My first layers came out way too dark, so, instead of covering some dark spots with white or lighter hues, I experimented with adding light hues of chalk. The chalk adds a completely different quality—those chalky marks have a matte, almost powdery presence that contrasts beautifully with the fluidity of the paint. You can see them especially in those peachy-orange and white linear marks that dance across the surface, creating visual interest and depth. The darks now read as shadows or recesses, and the chalk marks feel like light breaking through. It gives the painting an atmospheric quality, almost like dappled light through foliage.
